daphne

Daphne Guinness: Undressed on Nowness.com.

Daphne being Daphne: artsy, exhibitionist, "shy."  She's pretty fucking cool.

In other news, Blogger sucks and is seriously hampering my usual blogging practices what with not being able to upload photos and all.  It's becoming problematic in a real way and I'm missing what had become a regular blogging routine.  I'm considering switching to Tumblr, although in my mind that's a day long project and a free day is difficult to find these days.  Anyway, staaaaay tuned.

FLARE

For the past month I've been interning in the fashion department at FLARE Magazine in Toronto.  It's been aMAzing so far.  Check out this post I wrote for Flare.com all about the sunglasses of the season.  Yeeeee.

For some reason Blogspot is not allowing me to upload any photos right now or for the past week - veryyyy frustrating.  As soon as it's working again, we'll be back to regular posting.

the waves

I just spent a lovely May long weekend up at my cottage - lot's of sun, beers on the dock, boat rides, friends, and the promise of an amazing summer ahead.  The above is from T Magazine featuring my  fave Canadian model, Daria, who, as it turns out, is a sailor, not unlike moi.  Imagine that.  Hey Daria, how do you feel about joining me for Tuesday night races at Toronto Harbourfront?  It's no St. Barts, but it's pretty damn fun.

calgary

Though certainly not my favourite city in Canada, my best friend hails from this place so I love it despite is suburban sprawl and perpetual earth tones; also, this is the title of Bon Iver's brand new song off their newest album.  Not so behind on music after all...thanks Vulture.

Lorna Simpson: Momentum

Above is Lorna Simpson's Momentum, exclusively on NOWNESS.  The film is conceptual and surreal and yet the frenetic tension between stillness, waiting, wild and repetitive movement, followed by heaving exhaustion and stillness again recalls for me my own lengthy flirtation with pointe shoes and leotards.  It's reminded me that an art form I've long loved for its serenity and grace is rarely so.  (Also that ballet so often requires the oddest costumes, although I never had to go so far as body paint.)

drink milk, love life

Every fashion publication has covered the white trend at this point, but I still can't get enough.  It doesn't hurt that these photos are so graphic and bold that it makes wearing all white look exciting and audacious.  Nathalia Oliveira is here shot by Alvaro Beamud Cortes for QVEST.
