conference call
A serious gathering of fashion's intellectual minds after the Miu Miu show yesterday. What I wouldn't give to be fly on the wall when this was going on.

ps fall 2011
Proenza Schouler's show is one that I always look forward to seeing and always, without fail, end up loving at first sight. The label has just posted this video of their Fall 2011 presentation: the textures and colours of the clothes are brilliant, the coats are clean and well cut, and the shoes, well, I just love them. (Although the practicality of sandals for fall is questionable.)

pilgrim's progress
Not that he ever doesn't, but Alber Elbaz presented a beautiful fall collection for Lanvin. The accessories were sobering, what with the face-obstructing hats, thin handbags, and unadorned shoes, and the clothes were luxurious, at times joyous, and full of movement. Lanvin for the win every time.

gaga
She chose a good name for herself (although she'd probably say it chose her), because Lady Gaga certainly seems a bit dippy in this interview (the white wine is probably her best accessory). But I honestly love her, and now Nicola Formichetti, more and more, if only because they honestly seem to pour themselves into everything they do; they're definitely not joking.

arizona & abbey
I guess these gals look pretty cool. And they're in Paris. Oh, and they're models--the most buzzed about models at that. And apparently they're friends. Yeah, so...cool.

spectacle
Nicola Formichetti's debut collection for Mugler is to big to not talk about. It's spectacle yes, but what else can be expected from something in which Lady Gaga is involved? When I first saw the video, I honestly though it just looked like a lot of clothing that I've already seen Gaga wearing--it seemed familiar because of her association. (I must remember that it's Formichetti who is styling her and having her dress this way.) But the clothes actually do have something more to them than extreme costuming; the details, like leather pants (always a weakness of mine), structured shoulders and sleeves, razor sharp hems, and, best of all, fur sleeves, were all pretty amazing. The atmosphere of the show, however, is obviously what made it. Lady's Gaga's antics make me think that all models should be smoking and dancing on (humping?) poles during runway shows. Formichetti has reignited the idea that the runway shouldn't just be an opportunity to show clothes, it should be an opportunity to celebrate fashion.

which way to the beach?
Anja Rubik looking oh-so smouldering in Vogue Australia, lensed by Max Doyle. God, I want summer to come so badly: no more pants, bonfires, filmy dresses. Summer is just so much sexier somehow...is that weird to say? (Might be, but I think the folks at Vogue would agree with me if these photos can tell us anything.)
